Story

The fridge light turns off when the door closes. Nobody checks. This camera checks, and files a report.

Eleven years without data

The Inventor assumed the light went off, the way everyone does, without ever confirming it. The Fridge Light Verification Camera ends the assumption. It clips to the upper shelf, watches the light through every closure, and reports back.

How it watches itself

A 12 mm module records the three seconds after each door closure. Because the one light it is built to watch cannot be trusted to light the scene, the unit carries its own infrared illuminator. The recording never leaves the unit; only the result does.

The report

Each closure produces one line in the app: light off, or light on. There is no summary, no trend, no weekly digest of your fridge's behaviour. Just the one fact, once per closure.

Timeline

In 4,100 logged closures during testing, across three units, the light went off every time. The Inventor calls this the first confirmed result in the field, since no one had previously checked in the field, or anywhere else.

Updates

  1. Past goal in six days Update #2 ·

The campaign passed its funding goal within a week, and has now cleared the monthly-report stretch goal too. That report will be delivered automatically by email, monthly, without anyone needing to open the fridge to check.

  2. Four thousand one hundred closures, zero surprises Update #1 ·

Before launch we ran the camera through 4,100 logged door closures across three test units. The light went off every time. We are calling this the first confirmed result in the field, since nobody had checked before.

Comments

  1. Sanne K.

Does it work on the freezer light too?

    1. Petra LindqvistInventor

It works on any light behind a door that closes. The freezer counts.

  2. Oskar B.

Backed the inspection kit. My fridge light has never worried me until now.

  3. Marika T.

What if the door doesn't close all the way?

    1. Petra LindqvistInventor

Then the report says the light is on, correctly.

  4. Devon R.

Backed the two-camera pack. Fridge and freezer, both accounted for.

  5. Iben S.

Does the infrared light bother the food?

    1. Petra LindqvistInventor

No. The food has not commented either way.

  6. Callan P.

Eleven years is a long time to wonder about one bulb.

  7. Rosa M.

Picked up the shelf clip mount. Door-frame felt like it might get knocked.
