Story
Most feeders dispense on a timer. This one dispenses on an invitation. Each meal is scheduled on the cat's own calendar, with a reminder fifteen minutes before, and the cat's attendance is recorded like anyone else's.
The invitation
The feeder issues a calendar invitation for each meal to a calendar account held in the cat's name, with a reminder fifteen minutes before the meal is due. The invitation is sent in the owner's account language, since the cat has not stated a preference.
RSVP
A reader in the feeder checks the cat's collar tag at mealtime. Attendance is recorded as accepted if the cat is present within two minutes of the scheduled time, and declined if it is not. Portions are metered from 5 to 80 grams per meal regardless of how the invitation was answered.
The prototype cat
The prototype cat has attended 412 meals, arriving more than two minutes after the scheduled time at every one, so none are recorded as accepted. The Inventor attributes this to the inbox, not the cat, and is reviewing the subject line.
Shipping
The feeder ships worldwide. The second calendar account is a digital Reward and ships nowhere, since a calendar account has no address to send it to.

Updates
The 412-meal question
A number of backers have asked about the prototype cat: 412 meals attended, none recorded as accepted, each one arriving more than two minutes late. We have gone over the invitation wording and changed nothing, since it reads clearly to us. The feeder keeps dispensing on schedule either way.
Second reminder confirmed
€17,000 came in, and the second reminder — five minutes before the meal, on top of the fifteen-minute one — is now part of the build. Pledges already in place get it with no extra step on your end.
Next up is the €22,000 goal: a separate calendar for each cat on a shared feeder. The prototype household runs two cats through one feeder, which is exactly the case this would fix.
Nine days to goal
Backers got us to €15,000 nine days after launch. The next target is the first stretch goal, a second reminder five minutes before the meal.

Comments
Does the cat need its own email address, or does the calendar account cover it?
The calendar account is enough. No email is required to accept a meeting.
Went with two feeders. Our two cats have never managed to share one calendar.
What happens if the cat declines three meals in a row?
The feeder dispenses on schedule regardless. Declining a meeting does not cancel it.
Can the reminder be moved earlier than fifteen minutes? Ours needs more notice.
Is the collar tag waterproof? Ours goes outside.
It is rated for rain, not for swimming.
Added the second calendar account for our other cat. She had never had a calendar of her own before this.
Congratulations on the first stretch goal. A second reminder is exactly what ours needs.
412 meals attended and zero accepted is the most candid statistic on this shop.
