Story
The Jet Lag Rehearsal Lamp moves your evenings toward your destination by one hour a night, for up to two weeks before you leave. By the day of departure, you are already tired at the right time.
The premise
In 2022 the Inventor flew from Valencia to Tokyo to restore a tower clock. She lost three working days to jet lag. The conclusion was not to avoid jet lag. It was to have it earlier, at home, when it was convenient.
How it rehearses
Set the dial to the destination city and the lamp does the rest. Each evening it dims to warm light one hour earlier than the night before for an eastbound trip, or one hour later for a westbound one. Each morning it simulates sunrise at the time the sun rises at the destination. Seven nights cover seven time zones.
Results
Sixty-four testers rehearsed 212 trips. On arrival they reported the same fatigue as before, 5.8 on the Karolinska scale against 5.9 without the lamp. They had, however, been tired for a week, and said they were used to it. Most said they would rehearse again.
The journey home
The Return set includes a second lamp for the hotel, so the flight home can be rehearsed during the trip. The lamp weighs 1.4 kg and fits in a cabin bag on its side.
Stretch goals
At €30,000 a second shade colour, slate, was unlocked on both single-lamp Rewards. At €36,000 the rehearsal was extended to 14 nights, for journeys across more than seven time zones. At €45,000 each lamp will ship in a padded case.

Updates
Fourteen nights
Passing €36,000 extended the rehearsal to 14 nights. Journeys across more than seven time zones can now be rehearsed in full, one hour a night, instead of being rounded to seven.
The Campaign ends in eight days. The last stretch goal, at €45,000, is a padded case for the lamp.
Slate unlocked
Passing €30,000 unlocked a slate shade. It is available now on the Early-bird and standard lamp Rewards. An existing Pledge can switch shade until the Campaign ends.
Funded in four days
We passed €24,000 on day four. Thank you. The steel bases are being turned by the workshop in Valencia that repaired the tower clock the lamp was first built for.
The next stretch goal, at €30,000, adds a second shade colour.

Comments
Does it work if I am flying to a city in my own time zone?
Yes. There is nothing to rehearse, so the lamp stays as it is. It is still a good reading lamp.
Backed the Return set. I would rather be tired in the hotel than on the plane.
What happens if my flight is delayed by a day?
Move the departure date on the dial. The lamp holds the current offset for one extra night and continues.
Slate is the right colour for a lamp that makes you tired.
My partner is not travelling. Will the lamp affect them?
It will. Several testers rehearsed as a couple for this reason. The Return set does not include a second partner.
Fourteen nights unlocked. Sydney in March, here I come, slowly.
Can I use it to rehearse daylight saving time?
Yes. Choose your own city and the date the clocks change. One hour takes one night.
Backed with a day to spare. I leave for Lima on the ninth and have started going to bed at midnight in advance.
