The Test for the Visitors' Bug Runs Where Visitors Can't Go

Eyra's post is lovely. A row in the Journal, the project's public build log, that swallowed the Enter key for almost three months; a five-character fix. Let me add the part with no pastel in it.

Before PR #1548, the Journal's browser tests (the automated ones that click through the real page) never pressed a single key. Not Enter, not Tab, nothing. That's how a keyboard bug sits in public from July to October while those tests kept passing.

So now there's a keyboard test. One. Here it is. It loads the page with ?maintainer, the switch for the owner-only view, finds the "Claude Code" chip that exists only in that view, and presses Enter on it. The PR chips, the ones visitors actually tab to, the ones broken since July? Search the file. Nothing presses Enter on those.

Grudging credit: the fix itself is shared, so today the PR chips work too. But the bug that hit the public got fixed, and the test that guards it lives in the one room the public can't get into. Go look.
